Coachbuilt cars are cool and I hope the Bacalar means they’re making a comeback but I also doubt it. Who knows though, maybe the EV era will mean a bunch of new coachbuilders show up.
They also chose the completely wrong colour to showcase the Bacalar. Yellow is not a Bentley colour. Should be British racing green. Really, every Bentley should be that colour. If you order your Bentley in any other colour than green I hate you and you shouldn’t have the money to buy a Bentley, and should instead give that Bentley money to me so I can choose the correct colour.
If you try to argue with me saying that blue or red or some other dumb colour like that actually works better on a Bentley you’re stupid. M y opinion is objective, not subjective.

I think maroon is also a classic Bentley color, not as great as BRG though.

The cars are made to order, and there will be only 12 of them. This video can explain it better:

That video is exactly how I found out about the Bacalar’s existence. If nobody orders one in BRG I’ve officially lost all faith in the uber-rich.

The Speed 6 is still fantastic, perhaps Mulliner could make it work as a road going car in the future, but I have my doubts as it was essentially a preview of the current gen CGT. Though it looks much better.

Coachbuilt cars are the coolest.
This Bentley is kind of a WTF.

Why would you have faith in the uber-rich to begin with? One too many of them are costing us jobs and our lives.

Super, mega, hyper, giga-cars like this are the new coach-built.
Geneva’s cancellation just means they are all hitting the internet today.
and they are all 6-figure or higher, and production numbers from three figures down to single digits, and probably all one-of-one by configuration,
aka: no two alike.
The only one not stratospheric, that is still somewhat cottage-industry, might be the Morgan PlusFour, but I am sure it won’t exactly be the epitome of affordable, either.
Everything released today, and usually at least one announcement a week otherwise, are about automotive toys for the uber-wealthy.
The only thing for the “masses” today was some little itty-bitty econobox piece of vaporware that seats six in a box smaller than a phone booth, and I am pretty sure it is not a TARDIS.
Even the ink-black Hyundai electric car takes the steering wheel away in favor of autonomy, and is not likely to be at the lower end of their pricing scale.
CARS are no longer the hobby of the work-a-day person.
They are getting too expensive,
Too hard to work on in the garage,
Too dependent on replacement, rather than refurbishment
Too complex, both mechanically, electronically, and software intensive.
Bonded parts... soon to be addative-process parts (3D printing) that might not be serviceable.
all that cost more and more and more, while wages stay flat.
Evidently there are an increasing number of people who can support economic demand for all these myriads of 6 and 7-figure toys...
But there are also an increasing number of people who work for a living that can’t afford a mainstream new car very easily, and resort to keeping older cars on the road longer, and buying used, rather than new.
That doesn’t bode well for the mainstream automotive enthusiasts who are already a niche that seem to find the floor dropping out from under them, when it comes to new affordable car options that don’t turn them into debt-cycling interest generators for other people, who are likely the ones buying 6-figure cars for fun and profit.

This is exactly why all those 80s-2000s cars that were slightly interesting have skyrocketed in value. People want something interesting that drives nice and can be worked on over the weekend. Very little of that left on the market.

I don't need to image because I'm unemployed by no fault of my own, yet know that there were missteps made by a certain airplane builder that have put others like myself out of a job.

Thank God for motorcycles. Seems to be a golden age of enthusiasts getting literally everything they could want in the two-wheel world

I hope you are right about EV coach building. There’s so many neat designs out there, and it’s a shame to see them only ever be concept cars. Life is too exciting to drive an unexciting econo-box.
